Collaboration & Communication

Blueprint Studio makes it easy for designers, clients, and teammates to stay connected and informed throughout every phase of a project. Communication happens directly within the context of your proposals, items, and documents — so nothing gets lost in emails.

💡 Tip: Keeping all discussions inside Blueprint Studio ensures everyone sees the same information and decisions are well-documented.

Comments

Comments allow you to discuss specific items, proposals, or documents directly in the app.

1

To add a comment

  1. Open an item, proposal, or invoice.

  2. Click the Comments tab or the 💬 icon.

  3. Type your message and click Post.

All participants with access to that record will be notified automatically.

💡 Tip: Comments are grouped by document, so related discussions stay organized in one place.

Mentioning Team Members

You can mention teammates to draw their attention to a comment or request.

1
  1. Type @ followed by their name (e.g., @Sarah).

  2. Select their name from the list.

  3. They’ll receive a notification with a direct link to the comment.

💡 Tip: Use mentions to delegate tasks or confirm updates on specific items.

Internal vs Client Comments

Blueprint Studio supports both internal comments (team-only) and client-visible comments.

When adding a comment:

  • Choose Internal if it’s only for your design team.

  • Choose Client Visible if you want your client to see it in their portal or email notifications.

Notifications

Users automatically receive notifications for important events, such as:

  • New comments or replies

  • Proposal approvals

  • New attachments

  • Payment confirmations

Notifications appear both in the app and (if enabled) by email.

💡 Tip: You can manage your email notification preferences under Profile → Notification Settings.

File Sharing & Attachments

You can upload supporting documents directly to a project, item, or comment thread. This keeps all visuals, references, and updates together.

1

To upload a file

  1. Go to the Attachments tab within a project or document.

  2. Click Upload File or drag and drop a file.

  3. Add an optional description or note.

  4. Click Save.

💡 Tip: Store floor plans, photos, or vendor quotes here so your team and clients have a single source of truth.

Client Portal

Clients have their own secure view of Blueprint Studio — the Client Portal. Here they can:

  • View approved and pending proposals

  • Make online payments

  • Review invoices and budgets

  • Add comments or ask questions

Clients only see information you’ve shared with them — internal notes and drafts remain private.

💡 Tip: You can preview the client’s view by using Impersonate Client mode (if enabled by your admin).

Impersonate Client View

The Impersonate feature allows you to see exactly what your client sees.

1
  1. Open a project.

  2. Click Actions → View as Client.

  3. The system will display the client portal interface for that specific project.

  4. Exit impersonation by clicking Return to Designer View.

This helps you verify client permissions and ensure no private data is visible.

Email Notifications & Replies

When you send proposals, invoices, or comments, clients receive email notifications with secure links. Replies made from within the portal (or via email if supported) appear back in the Blueprint Studio thread automatically.

💡 Tip: All client interactions are logged, so you always have a record of communication and approvals.

Best Practices for Collaboration

  • Keep all discussions on-platform to avoid confusion.

  • Use mentions for accountability.

  • Upload supporting visuals (e.g., sketches or tear sheets).

  • Keep internal comments private to maintain professionalism.

  • Regularly review comment threads for open items.

Next Steps

You’re now set up to collaborate effectively with both your team and clients. Next, let’s look at how to generate reports and export project data for reviews and bookkeeping.
